This article analyzes the perspectives of university students on the contribution of academic training to the development of entrepreneurship. This research had a quantitative-descriptive approach, which allowed the design of a survey directed to the students of the entrepreneurial area from the main universities in Paraguay. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. The results show that most of the university students recognize themselves as entrepreneurs, and some already have a business in progress, while others intend to undertake it when they finish their university studies. The main motivation is related to obtaining income and/or increasing the income they already have. Another of the motivations identified is related to self-employment, that is, being independent. University education contributes to developing innovative solutions to environmental problems, knowing characteristics of the market, identifying business opportunities, and knowing how to manage them around the formation of enterprises. As a result of this research, it was also found that students identify that universities contribute very little to learning how to tolerate failure and do not have programs or initiatives that finance projects conceived in university classrooms, so the training of expert entrepreneurship teachers should be an essential requirement in the universities of Paraguay
