Abstract

The development of productive enterprises is considered a key strategy to boost the economic inclusion of the migrant and resident population along the southern border within the framework of the PROSALUD Project. This initiative began in 2020, and a final component focused on entrepreneurship was incorporated in 2024. The study aimed to identify and strengthen sustainable productive initiatives that contribute to increasing family income. The research was conducted over two years in Huaquillas and Macará, using a participatory approach that included diagnostics, enterprise selection, and training processes. As part of this methodology, four market studies were conducted, and marketing strategies were designed for the selected initiatives. The results show that it was possible to recognize the skills and potential of the migrant and host populations, implement four productive ventures with the adaptation of spaces and provision of equipment, and establish inter-institutional cooperation mechanisms to ensure their sustainability. Likewise, legal entities were established to facilitate the production and marketing of goods. In conclusion, capacity building, technical support, and coordination with local stakeholders made it possible to consolidate productive ventures that contribute to improving the economic conditions of the families involved, promoting their stability and development in the border area.
