Peer review process
The Revista Tecnológica Espol – RTE® is a peer-reviewed journal that is governed by the anonymous double blind pair system. The articles sent by the authors are previously evaluated by the Associate Editor to check if they comply with the publishing rules and thematic policies of the journal. When the article passes this first filter, it is sent to the external evaluators who are experts in the subject addressed by the author. In order to comply with and defend the research ethics, the reviewers do not know the name of the author(s) and the identification of the institution(s) to which the article belongs, entrusting them with deciding whether it responds to the scientific interests of the journal and if its publication proceeds. In the final assessment, the reviewers decide between the following options:
If there is disparity of opinion between reviewers of the Scientific Committee, it will be submitted to the judgment of a third expert, who will resolve the conflict of opinions. Once the evaluations have been received, the final decision regarding the publication of a manuscript will be made by the editor assigned by the Revista Tecnológica Espol.
The review process, from the submission of the manuscript through OJS to the completion of the reviews, takes an average of 6–8 weeks, with certain exceptions.
Publication frequency
The submission of articles is permanently open and structured to guarantee the periodicity of its publications: there are two calls per year to submit articles (Call for papers). Two regular volumes are published every year (in June and December). Additionally, one or two special volumes/issues may be published for thematic dossiers or publications derived from scientific events (e.g., conferences or symposiums). Requests for special volumes/issues are submitted to the Editor for consideration, subject to their relevance to the scope of the Revista Tecnológica Espol – RTE® and the expertise of the Associate or Guest Editor(s). Special volumes/issues follow the same editorial process and policies as described for regular volumes.
Open access policy
The RTE journal is guided by the definition of open access established by DOAJ: the copyright holder of an academic work grants rights of use to others through an open license (Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License) that allows free and immediate access to the work and allows any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of the articles, track them for indexing, pass them as data to the software, or use them for any other legal purpose.
The full text of all the content is available for immediate free and open access:
