Abstract

The floristic composition and the forest structure the Agricultural Corporation San Juan was studied, thisgallery is situated in La Maná in Cotopaxi,Ecuador located among the geographical coordinates 000 90' 03"South Latitude and 790 26' 04" West Longitude, at an altitude of 220 masl. Three lots of 1 ha each was electedrandomly; in each lot 25 parcels of 20 X 20 m were established. In each parcel all the trees ≥10 cm of BHD weremeasured and identified. It was registered 56 species, included in 42 genera and 25 families. The mostrepresentative families were: Moraceae, Caricaceae, Cecropiaceae and Poligonaceae. The most abundant specieswere: Castilla elastica, Jacaratia digitata, Cecropia sp., Solanum venosa and Triplaris cuningiana. The Moraceaefamily, with the C. elastica specie, obtained the higher Importance Value Index, followed by the family Caricaceae, with the species J. digitata. According to the Shannon’s diversity index, the lot 1 was more diverse and the lot 2less diverse. The major equitability value was for the lot 3 and the smaller value was for the lot 1. The similarityindex was high among the lot 1 and 2. The major number of individuals for hectare was in the diametrical class10-20 cm. C. elastica was the unique specie that had continuous vertical distribution in the three lots.
